WhatsApp for Android is potentially introducing an exciting functionality that would enable users to select their preferred default chat themes and bubble designs from a variety of styles. This information comes from a feature tracking source, suggesting a more personalized experience for users as they navigate the popular messaging platform. The update is part of ongoing enhancements, including another upcoming feature that could allow users to tag individuals in their status updates.

The new theme customization option is reportedly being developed for an upcoming version of WhatsApp for Android. It was first detected in the beta release numbered 2.24.20.12. Once implemented, it is predicted that users will possess the ability to explore different design variations and choose their favorite themes.

As illustrated in a shared screenshot, the application will intelligently coordinate the colors of chat bubbles and background images to align with the chosen theme. Users might also have the flexibility to select a unique wallpaper color that is distinct from the bubble colors, giving them more control over the aesthetic of their chats.

The feature to select from a range of themes is expected to be found within the settings menu for WhatsApp on Android, with the option to apply the default choice across all conversations. Moreover, users will have the ability to manually adjust the theme for specific chats if they prefer a different appearance.

This capability to choose a default theme was initially detected by the feature tracker in an earlier beta release, version 2.24.17.19. Nonetheless, it is essential to underscore that this customization feature is still under development and remains inaccessible to beta testers involved in the Google Play Beta program. While the messaging application is exploring multiple new functions across various platforms, not every feature is guaranteed to reach the public version.
