Deadpool and Wolverine’s place in Marvel's timeline is now confirmed. With the Marvel Cinematic Universe delving into multiverses, it has become increasingly challenging to track chronological timelines and discern which story occurs in which universe. A significant point of curiosity revolves around the upcoming Deadpool and Wolverine film, which seems poised to merge Fox's Deadpool timeline with the MCU while involving a version of Hugh Jackman's Wolverine. This begs the question: when exactly is this movie set?
In an interview with Total Film, director Shawn Levy revealed that the movie takes place six years after the last film. Deadpool is struggling with selling cars and hawking Blind Al's blood-pressure meds just to make rent, all while his beloved Vanessa has moved on with a new boyfriend.
It's clear that the film is set six years after Deadpool 2. The next question is, which version of Wolverine will appear? Will it be the Fox X-Men version or something entirely new, and how will he fit into the timeline? Additionally, is this set in the modern, current MCU, or will Deadpool find himself in a different time period altogether?
Many queries remain, and hopefully, most—if not all—will be answered when the movie premieres in cinemas on July 26, 2024.
