Not satisfied with his prominent appearance in Fortnite the previous year, the famously verbose novelist Alan Wake is gearing up for another collaborative venture in multiplayer gaming. This time, he's set to integrate into the chilling realm of Behaviour Interactive's slanted multiplayer horror experience, Dead by Daylight, scheduled for January 30th.
Alan takes on the role of the newest Survivor character in Dead by Daylight, with actor Matthew Porretta reprising his part as the voice behind Wake. At the same time, Ilkka Villi, who brought Alan to life in the live-action sequences in the highly praised Alan Wake 2 release from the past year, once again contributes to Alan's physical portrayal.
"Caught in the sinister confines of the Dark Place, struggling to break free," Behaviour hints, "Alan's efforts to pen his release drag him into the clutches of The Entity, exchanging one shadowy realm for another."
As outlined on the Dead by Daylight blog, Alan is granted three unique Survivor perks. First, 'Champion of Light' bolsters his speed while he wields his iconic flashlight, and if it blinds the killer, it afflicts them with the Hindered status, reducing their pace. Next, the 'Boon: Illumination' perk allows Alan to establish a Boon totem, enhancing the visibility of generators and chests' auras for nearby Survivors.
Lastly, the 'Deadline' perk is engaged once Alan sustains an injury, ratcheting up the occurrence of skill checks during generator repairs or while attending to wounded Survivors. The consequent setback is diminished by fifty percent if a skill check is bungled under its effect.
The addition of the Alan Wake narrative to Dead by Daylight, which also ushers in the temporary Lights Out alteration, leaving players without crucial equipment, is set to debut across all gaming platforms on January 30th.
