James Gunn has some intriguing ideas regarding a potential collaboration between Batman and Superman in the DC Universe. While this remains a speculative concept for now, fans continue to express their enthusiasm for such a film.
To mark Labor Day, Gunn posted a comic book drawing of Superman, Batman, and Robin on Threads. A fan inquired what title Gunn would assign to a hypothetical movie featuring these two iconic heroes. Gunn responded with a nostalgic nod, stating it should be called "World's Finest."
The title 'World's Finest' originally graced the first DC comic series showcasing both heroes alongside Robin, which debuted in 1941 and continued until 1986.
Although a crossover film is not in the works at the moment, each superhero is set to lead their own projects within the DC Universe. Superman will headline his film next year, with David Corenswet stepping into the role, while Batman is slated to appear in The Brave and the Bold, directed by Andy Muschietti. The casting for the Dark Knight is still pending.
Superman signifies the inaugural venture of Gunn and producer Peter Safran into their DCU's initial chapter, titled 'Gods and Monsters'. However, before that, enthusiasts should anticipate the distinct, animated series known as Creature Commandos, which is set to launch on Max later this December.
Superman's cinematic release is scheduled for July 11, 2025. In the meantime, be sure to explore our guide to other exciting superhero films on the horizon, along with an overview of major movie release dates.
