Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 is reinstating its classic prestige mechanism. The recent Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 Direct has wrapped up, providing enthusiasts of the first-person shooter (FPS) genre with substantial updates about the forthcoming iteration. A standout announcement from the event is the reintroduction of the iconic prestige system into Call of Duty: Black Ops 6.
This reintroduction means that upon reaching the peak player level, participants can restart from scratch, forfeit all previously earned equipment, and embark on the progression journey anew. The game is set to introduce ten levels of prestige, each offering unique rewards that signify the player's status.
Upon achieving the highest tier, prestige ten, players will unlock access to an elite prestige master mode, which includes an additional thousand levels and the promise of a secret "classified reward" to be discovered. Notably, all levels of prestige will be accessible from the game's launch, enabling immediate progression.
Lawrence Metten, the associate director of design at Treyarch, the studio behind Call of Duty: Black Ops 6, heralded this update as part of "a goal to make leveling and XP matter more than ever." He highlighted that this revamped system amalgamates the finest features from previous Call of Duty prestige systems, aiming for a more expansive and rewarding experience.
As a follow-up to Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War, Call of Duty: Black Lops 6 was initially teased through enigmatic hints, including a bizarre website showcasing clips of Mount Rushmore being defaced with graffiti. Its release is scheduled for October 25, 2024, and it will be immediately accessible through Xbox Game Pass from day one.
