Fantastic Four, the upcoming Marvel film, has captured significant attention due to the meticulous design process for The Thing character. Matt Shakman, the director, emphasized the extensive efforts made by him and his creative team to develop Ebon Moss-Bachrach's portrayal of The Thing, highlighting the significance of precise details.

At San Diego Comic-Con on July 27, Shakman offered valuable perspectives on their distinctive methodology. Known for his work on Fargo, The Boys, and WandaVision, Shakman explained that they explored the desert to locate the ideal rock for Ben Grimm's transformation. Striving to balance comic book authenticity with real-world accuracy, the exploration extended beyond just rocks.

Shakman mentioned that they consulted with scientists and animal experts to enhance their design efforts. Additionally, he confirmed that the movie would be set in a retro-future '60s atmosphere, blending recognizable elements from the '60s with innovative concepts.

The cast includes Joseph Quinn, Vanessa Kirby, and Pedro Pascal as Johnny Storm, Sue Storm, and Reed Richards, respectively. The Fantastic Four: First Steps is scheduled for release on July 25, 2025. Although details about the plot remain scarce, Ralph Ineson is known to be playing the villain Galactus, hinting at the possible antagonistic force Marvel's First Family will contend with.

Comic-Con attendees were given a sneak peek of the film, showcasing scenes of Pascal's Mister Fantastic in a teaching scenario, a flying car, The Thing's silhouette on a retro dating show, and the main characters gearing up for a space exploration mission.
